The “Oklahoman” reported Thursday that the team formerly known as the Seattle SuperSonics, now located in Oklahoma City, may have allowed some info to accidentally slip out on Wednesday. According to the report, when NBA schedules were released for the 2008-2009 campaign Wednesday morning, the page put up by the Association on their website said ?Oklahoma City Thunder schedule.” The report stated that if you clicked any of the scheduled games it took you to?this?URL;??www.nba.com/thunder?(if you click the URL now it will bring you to a blank page. By Wednesday afternoon the URL had been disabled, and there is no mention of the “Thunder” or any other team name on the site. A spokesman for the team said that they were not commenting, until the team was ready to make an official announcement.

Last month “Sports lllustrated.com” reported that the franchise had filed for trademark rights for six nicknames for the newly relocated team. The names reported were Barons, Bison, Energy, Marshalls, Thunder and Wind (I prefer the Marshalls myself.)
