Smith Flying High After Hawks Match Memphis Offer Sheet

The “Associated Press” reported Saturday that the Atlanta Hawks have matched the offer sheet given to restricted free agent Josh?Smith by the Memphis Grizzlies. The move reportedly would keep?the 6′9″ forward in a Hawks uniform for the next five seasons. Smith had reportedly signed an offer sheet with Memphis on Friday that was said to be a five year pact worth $58 million. Smith who just finished his fourth season in the Association has played his entire pro career with Atlanta. He?has averaged 13.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists. per game in his NBA career. Hawks General Manager Rick Sund issued a statement that read “Tonight, the Hawks organization received an offer sheet from the Memphis Grizzlies for Josh Smith. We are happy to announce that we will match their offer sheet.Ownership, management and the team are happy to have Josh return as a member of the Hawks.”
