Kupchak Excited After Seeing Bynum

The “Orange County Register” reported Thursday that Los Angeles Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak was all smiles after visiting with Lakers center Andrew Bynum this week. Bynum was lost for the season after injuring his left knee on January 13, in a win against the Memphis Grizzlies. After trying to repair the knee through rehab, Bynum finally underwent surgery on the knee in May. Kupchak told reporters that the center has made great strides in the last few weeks. Kupchak said “Andrew Bynum has dedicated another summer to getting into the best possible shape. A month ago he was cleared from the knee surgery he had and at that point he began working on conditioning and getting into shape and I thought he looked like he has made progress. I could see improvement in his body, his conditioning and mobility. I didn’t see any signs of effects from the surgery.”

Bynum was having his strongest year in the Association before getting hurt averaging 13.1 ppg, 10.2 rpg, and 2.06 blocks per game. He is expected to be in shape in time for training camp which starts the first week of October.
