The Golden State Warriors are systematically paring down their roster to their preferred number of 15; currently, they are at 16 as they have waived guard Dan Dickau from their roster, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The elimination of Dickau will probably clear a path for local product DeMarcus Nelson to make the team. Dickau played in just 2 of the team’s 4 exhibition games, averaging 5 PPG, 2.5 RPG and 2 SPG in 12 minutes of playing time.
Nelson was invited to training camp on a non-guaranteed contract, but has become a favorite of head coach Don Nelson as he has displayed gritty defense while in camp. With the team down to 16, the fight for the final roster spot appears to between forward Rob Kurz and shooting guard Anthony Morrow, who has a partially-guaranteed contract.
