
On Thursday, the New Jersey Nets waived four players in order to reduce their roster to the league-mandated 15 players; waived were: forward Keith Van Horn, guards Eddie Gill and Julius Hodge and forward Brian Hamilton. Van Horn was acquired in the 8-player trade that sent Jason Kidd to the Dallas Mavericks in February.
Gill appeared in 6 preseason games, averaging 4.5 PPG and 1.0 APG; in his career, Gill has averaged 3.1 PPG and 1.1 APG in 181 career games with New Jersey, Memphis, Portland and Indiana. Hodge averaged 3.0 PPG and 3.0 RPG in 4 preseason games; in 2 seasons, Hodge has averaged 1.2 PPG in 23 career games. Hamilton had one point and 5 rebounds in 3 preseason contests.
