What can you say that hasn’t been said about New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul?  Superlatives such as: game-changer, superstar, All-Star, etc., etc….I think you catch my drift.  Wednesday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena did not change anyone’s point of view about Paul as he hit the game-winning shot with 19.4 seconds left in the game, lifting New Orleans past Golden State 108-103.

Both teams did what one would expect from both teams – score and score plenty; the Warriors went into their locker room with a slim 57-56 lead.  After Paul’s jumper gave the Hornets a six-point lead with 5:47 remaining, they went cold for nearly 4 minutes while the Warriors took the lead 101-100 on a jumper by Corey Maggette.  Paul put New Orleans back on top twice in the final 1:05, including a layup; after Paul’s layup, Golden State’s Stephen Jackson threw away a simple inbounds pass, giving New Orleans possession of the ball.  New Orleans’ Peja Stojakovic drained a pair of free throws before a late 3-point try by the Warriors’ Al Harrington went flat.

New Orleans’ high scorer was David West with 24 points, along with 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots while the aforementioned Paul added 21 with 5 rebounds, 11 assists, 3 steals and a blocked shot.  Stojakovic chipped in with 16 along with 2 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.  Golden State was led by Maggette with 27 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal in his Warriors debut while Jackson added 26 – including five 3-pointers – with 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals but 5 turnovers; Kelenna Azubuike pitched in with 17 along with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and a blocked shot.  New Orleans (1-0) plays again on Thursday as they make the short flight to Phoenix to take on the Suns while Golden State (0-1) travels to Canada to take on the Toronto Raptors on Friday.

Chris Paul is so over rated its disgusting. He gets way more recognition than and Deron Williams and thats horrible cause Williams is one of the best point guards in the NBA. He dominates Paul everytime they play against eachother. 8-2 against Paul if you want to talk about numbers. I can’t believe he is even brought up in the conversation about MVP. Its totally ridiculous.
