For the Cavs and James – Less in the End is Better

Home game one for the new look Cavs could not have gone better for the most part. They took advantage of their personal whipping boys, the Charlotte Bobcats, and we saw what the Cavs can and should do when all things click.

There was one thing missing for some of the game, and it was very noticeable when it was – LeBron James. The best player in the game (at least in this writer’s opinion) was only on the floor for 30 of the 48 minutes, which is quite a change from years past for the Akron native.

So why less LeBron? Easy, because this Cavs team is by far and away the best that James has played on in his Pro career.

Look at the linescore for James and you’ll see why this is the best team – 30:16 playing time, 22 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists. It was the usual game for James (minus a few points), but by only having to play a little over 30 minutes, the teams MVP will be a lot more fresh later in the season.

Now don’t get me wrong – James will have his nights of 45-48 minutes. But it’s really nice when a player like Daniel Gibson (game high 25 points) or the newest Cav – Mo Williams (17 points, 7 assists) can pick up the void when James is out.

It was a good look at the type of game that Mike Brown wants to see from his club, and for LeBron, it was good to be able to sit back and take a breather vs a team that he really shouldn’t have to push himself against.
