Thunder Strikes Down T-Wolves 88-85

The Oklahoma City Thunder after playing a very close game against the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves pulled ahead just far enough in the fourth quarter as they defeated the T-Wolves 88-85 Sunday night. Minnesota center Al Jefferson recorded a double-double, and was the game’s leading scorer, but it was not enough to overcome the Thunder.
There was not a whole lot of time for either of these teams to fall back on their heels in this contest, as it stayed tight through out the night. At the end of the first quarter, the two opponents were deadlocked at 20-20. Minnesota would take a razor thin lead into the locker room at the half as they were up 47-46. The T-Wolves advantage increased slightly by the end of the third quarter as they led 73-70. The Thunder made the first three baskets of the fourth to put them ahead 76-73. Minnesota, would not get closer than one point down the rest of the night.
Kevin Durant led his club scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block, in the Oklahoma City victory. Russell Westbrook came off the bench and scored 14 points, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 rebound, Jeff Green scored 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block. Chris Wilcox had a nice night as he scored 12 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, as he came off the bench, Nick Collison registered a double-double, as he had 10 points, grabbed 10 boards, 3 steals, 2 assists, 2 blocks.
Jefferson scored 24 points, 13 rebounds, 1 block. Craig Smith came off the pine and scored 13 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block, Ryan Gomes scored 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block. Mike Miller scored 10 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal. Both teams now have a 1-2 record.
