76ers Shoot Lights Out, Rout Kings 125-91
Posted by Stephen Rhodes under NBA Game Recap
In Monday night’s game between the Sacramento Kings and Philadelphia 76ers, 3-point shooting would prove to be the difference as the 76ers shot a sick 76.9% from beyond the arc while shooting 59.2% overall as Philadelphia ambushed Sacramento 125-91 at Wachovia Center.
The 76ers blew the game wide open early in the third period as they put together a 12-2 run as forward Elton Brand converted a three-point play and Thaddeus Young drained a trey that would give Philadelphia a 29-point lead. Donyell Marshall would sink a 3-pointer to put the game out of reach for good as the 76ers built a 122-83 lead.
Eight – count’em – eight 76ers scored in double figures, led by Young with 18 points, 2 rebounds, an assist and a steal while Lou Williams added 17 with 3 assists; Willie Green chipped in with 16 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists while Brand contributed 15 with 4 rebounds. Sacramento was led by Jason Thompson from off the bench with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists while Spencer Hawes added 15 with 8 rebounds, an assist, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots. Philadelphia (2-2) plays again on Wednesday as they travel to Florida to take on the Miami Heat while Sacramento (0-4) returns home for their home opener as they host the Memphis Grizzlies – also on Wednesday night.
