LBJ Leads The Way As Cavaliers Run Past Bulls 107-93
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Game Recap
LeBron James scored a game high, and his season high 41 points, as the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Chicago Bulls Wednesday night 107-93. The Cavaliers went on a scoring spurt as the first quarter was winding down, and never really looked back much of the rest of the contest.
Chicago would lead the contest early on, but Cleveland went ahead 15-13 on a Delonte West trey with 5:01 left in the period. The Cavaliers would increase their advantage to 30-24 by the end of the quarter. The Bulls kept pulling within close range of their opponents in the second quarter, but Cleveland kept pushing ahead and were on top by 12 points at 57-45 at the half. The Bulls went on a run midway through the third quarter, cutting the lead to 7 points, but could get no closer. The Cavaliers again extended their lead back to 12 points at the end of the period, 81-73. Chicago was never a threat in the final quarter.
LBJ shot 13/23 from the floor, and went 15/16 at the line as he scored 41 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals. West scored 16 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, Zydrunas Ilgauskas recorded a double-double, as he had 10 rebounds, 2 blocks. Mo Williams scored 13 points, 4 assists, 1 steal, Ben Wallace once again went scoreless but did his job as he grabbed a game high 14 boards, 2 steals, 1 block.
I have already asked this question 3 previous times in this young NBA season; why with Larry Hughes out with an injury is Ben Gordon not in the Bulls starting lineup? I know it’s more important who finishes the game than who starts the game, but this makes no sense! Why is he not teaming up with the rook Derrick Rose to give the Bulls a very nice starting back court? Whose decision is this General Manager John Paxson or head coach Vinny Del Negro? Gordon scored 31 points coming off the pine for Chicago, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 block. Rose scored 20 points, 7 assists, 1 steal, Luol Deng scored 18 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals. Drew Gooden had 11 points, 9 boards, 1 assist. Cleveland improves their record to 3-2, Chicago is now 2-3.
