Hedo And Rashard Perform Magic Act On Sixers Win 96-88

The Philadelphia 76ers Thursday night won the battle of the boards against the Orlando Magic as they out rebounded their opponents 54-46. But the Magic won the more important fight, the battle of the scoreboard as they sent the Sixers to defeat 96-88. All five Orlando starters scored in double figures, with forwards Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis with 20 points each. The Magic grabbed a big lead in the first quarter and Philadelphia never recovered.

This game became a one sided affair pretty early on, and never really deviated from that scenario. Orlando came out of the gate smoking, while the Sixers offense was M.I.A. The Magic took a commanding 30-16 lead at the end of the first quarter. The closest Philadelphia would get in the second would be down by 8, as Orlando went into the locker room at the half on top 54-43. The Sixers was able to get within single digits at the end of three quarters as they trailed 75-66. The Magic never allowed Philadelphia to get any closer than 7 points down in the final period.

Lewis scored 20 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, Turkoglu scored 20, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals in the Orlando victory. Jameer Nelson had 16 points, 9 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, Dwight Howard scored 14 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists. Mickael Pietrus, had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block.

Thaddeus Young was the leading scorer for the Sixers as he had 19 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal. Andre Iguodola recorded a double-double as he scored 16 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists, Andre Miller scored 15, 4 rebounds, 2 assists. Samuel Dalembert also had a double-double with 10 points, a game high 14 boards, 3 blocks, 1 assist, Elton Brand scored just 6 points, but did have 12 rebounds, 1 assist. Orlando now has a record of 3-2, while Philadelphia falls to 2-4.
