File this one under moves that make you ask why? The “Chicago Sun Times” has reported that the Chicago Bulls have signed veteran free agent point Lindsey Hunter after suffering a series of injuries to their back court personnel. Hunter is 37 years old and will be playing in season number 16 in the Association. Hunter, a defensive stalwart played in just 24 games last season for the Detroit Pistons. Chicago lost Kirk Hinrich to a thumb injury that will require surgery and could keep him out for 3 months. Larry Hughes has been hurt since the preseason after dislocating his shoulder.

I understand Chicago needs a point guard, but why Lindesy Hunter? If this was the Utah Jazz, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the New Orleans Hornets, the signing makes sense. All of the teams just mentioned are on the cusp of contending for the NBA Title, a veteran like Hunter could be an asset for them. But the Bulls, are a 4-5 team tied for last place in the NBA Central Division. I can not believe that there is not a point guard from the NBDL that could at least match the production they will get from Hunter. Going that route Chicago could find a diamond in the rough, with Hunter you can an aging veteran whose lustre is long since gone.
