Mavericks Keep Rockets From Taking Flight Win 96-86
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Game Recap

Dallas Mavericks point guard Jason Terry came off the bench and scored 31 points, and the Mavericks held the Houston Rockets to shooting just 37.2% (29-78) from the floor for the game as Dallas defeated Houston 96-86 Wednesday night. It was the third straight win for Dallas who began the NBA campaign with a 2-7 record. All of the Mavericks wins have been on the road as they are currently 0-4 at home.
This game effectively was over late in the first quarter as Dallas would end the period on a 7-0 run putting them ahead 31-25. The Mavericks would never surrender the lead for the rest of the contest. Houston really did not put themselves in a position to even threaten the Mavericks for the balance of the game. It wasn’t that the point disparity between the two teams was ever insurmountable, but Houston just seemed out of sync the rest of the game. Dallas increased their advantage at the half to 53-46. The Mavericks scored just 19 points in the third quarter, and still built their lead by another 4 points, as it was 72-61 at the end of the period. Houston never came close to challenging in the game’s final 12 minutes.
Jason Terry scored 31 points, 4 assists, 3 steals, 2 rebounds, in the Dallas victory. Dirk Nowitzki recorded a double-double for the Mavericks, as he dropped 24 points, grabbed 12 boards, and had 3 assists. They were the only two players for Dallas in double figures for the game.
The Rockets were without center Yao Ming who missed the contest with a sore left foot, and his presence was palpably missed on the hardwood. Rafer Alston scored 16 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, Tracy McGrady also had 16 points, 1 assist, 1 block, 1 rebound, 1 steal. Luis Scola put in 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist, 1 block. Aaron Brooks came off the pine and added 15 points, 1 steal, 1 assist, “Tru-Warrior“ Ron Artest recorded a double-double, 14 points, 13 boards, 2 blocks, 2 steals, 1 assist. Dallas after the win is now 5-7, Houston has a record of 7-5.

You spelled Tru-Warrior more accurately than Artest does. His rendition is Tru-Warier. I saw the medallion in person and did a double take.
