This is a game that the Chicago Bulls may as well have just mailed in; in Wednesday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers, you had a game of stark contrasts. Portland shot 50.6% while Chicago shot 34.6%; Portland out-rebounded Chicago 49-33. Portland had 24 assists to Chicago’s 13. Chicago did however turn the ball over more than Portland, 21-15. I think by now you have an idea of who won this game…that’s right, Portland did; they destroyed Chicago 116-74.
Portland led from the opening tip as they built an early 16-3 lead with a 9-0 run later on, giving the Trail Blazers a 34-13 cushion going into the second period. Led by Brandon Roy and Greg Oden, Portland built a 62-32 lead before “settling” for a 25-point lead at halftime. The third quarter was no different leading 68-47 midway through the third period, the Trail Blazers put the game away with a 14-0 run. To make matters worse, Portland led by as many as 47 points.
Portland was led by Roy with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals while Joel Przybilla (no that was not a misprint or typo) added 14 with 9 rebounds, an assist, a steal and 3 blocked shots; Oden came off the bench to score a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. Chicago was led by Andres Nocioni with 13 points, 4 rebounds and an assist. Portland (7-5) plays again on Friday when they fly south to Sacramento to take on the Kings while Chicago (5-7) flies south to Oakland to take on the Golden State Warriors – also on Friday night.
