In the NBA some trades are made that seem a good fit for all parties involved. There are also some trades, where you look at the players involved, and you realize one team just pulled something over on the team they traded with. There is also a third sub-category of trades in the Association that make NBA observers ask just one question; why?

The New York Knicks announced on Friday that they have completed deal with the Golden State Warriors. New York will receive veteran forward Al Harrington, and are giving up guard Jamal Crawford in return.

I have always had a lot of respect for New York Knicks Team President Donnie Walsh. Walsh during his years as the guy who ran the Indiana Pacers organization, had the team in the NBA post season most years he was in charge. However I really do not see how this move improves the New York Knicks. Jamal Crawford has been arguably New York’s most consistent player over the last few years. He has been a strength for the Knicks in what is probably their greatest area of weakness, their back court. Harrington has been at odds with Warriors coach Don Nelson, almost since he joined the team. Although Harrington does have skills, he fills less of a need for the Knicks than Crawford did. Final details of the deal have not been announced. Slam Dunk Central will relay any further information as it is released.
