Cavaliers Hot Shooting Keeps Hawks From Taking Flight Cleveland Wins 110-96

LeBron James scored a game high 24 points, and the Cleveland Cavaliers shot 50.6% (41-81) as they handily defeated the visiting Atlanta Hawks 110-96. The Hawks could not get on track in the first quarter, and they really never recovered. The Cavaliers have opened the still young NBA campaign perfect at home, where they have a 7-0 record.
The Hawks playing their second game in two nights appeared to be fatigued in the first quarter, as they simply had no offensive flow and Cleveland was on top 28-12 at the end of the period. Atlanta would play far better in the final three quarters, but they were never to really dig themselves out of the hole they fell into in the first. The Cavaliers walked into the locker room at the half with a 50-31 advantage.
LBJ hit a shot 2 feet from the basket with 6:35 left in the third to give his team a 68-39 lead. The Hawks were able to shave a little off by the end of the quarter, but not enough as Cleveland was ahead 80-57 as the two teams went into the fourth quarter. Atlanta, although they made the final score more respectable was never in any position to challenge in the last 12 minutes of play.
LeBron James had 24 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 steals in the Cleveland victory. Mo Williams who has won over the fans at the Q Arena put in 23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, Delonte West added 19 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds. Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 17 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block.
Atlanta’s two leading scorers came off of the bench as Maurice Evans had 21 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal. Acie Law scored 20 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, Al Horford added 12 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block. Marvin Williams put in 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, Mike Bibby contributed 10 points, 1 assist, 1 rebound. Cleveland now has a record of 10-3, Atlanta has an 8-5 mark.
