The Asssociated Press reported Monday that the Washington Wizards have fired their head coach Eddie Jordan, after the team got off to 1 -10 start to begin the 2008-2009 NBA campaign. Jordan was in his sixth season as bench boss for the Wizards compiling a 196-214 record during his tenure. His biggest problem as coach of the team fro D.C. was his players staying healthy consistently. Guard Gilbert Arenas has had 3 separate surgeries on the same knee, and has not played so far this season. Center Brendan Haywood may end missing the season after having surgery on his shooting wrist.

Washington has named director of player personnel Ed Tapscott as interim coach. He has no prior coaching experience but has an extensive background as a front office gut. Tapscott is the former Team President for the Charlotte Bobcats he also was director of basketball operations during the 1990’s for the New York Knicks.
