Paul And Posey Seal The Victory As Hornets Sting Nuggets 105-101

Chris Paul recorded a double-double Thursday night and “Super-Sub” James Posey hit a game winning trey with 19.1 seconds in the game as the New Orleans Hornets pulled off a come back victory over the Denver Nuggets 105-101. The Hornets had led for most of the contest, before the Nuggets keyed by an incredible performance off the bench by J.R. Smith put Denver on top late in the fourth quarter. But clutch shooting from Paul, Peja Stojakovic, David West, and Posey, sent the fans at the Pepsi Center in Denver home disappointed.
New Orleans took a healthy lead at the end of the first quarter as they were up 32-22. Denver came out firing in the opening minutes of the second starting the period on a 12-2 run, and the game was tied at 34-34 as Linas Kleiza slammed the ball through the cylinder with 8:11 left. The Hornets regained the momentum and led at the half 52-46.
The third quarter was dominated by New Orleans as Hilton Armstrong playing for proud new papa Tyson Chandler (his wife gave birth Tuesday night, Chandler was his wife and infant) dunked the ball to make it a 62-48 game. Denver was able to climb back into the contest by the end of the quarter as the Hornets lead was down to 76-69. The Nuggets opened up the fourth quarter on a 11-2 run, as Kleiza hit a 24 foot trey to put his club 80-78 with 8:41 to play. The lead volleyed back and forth over the rest of the period, and then Carmelo slammed it through with authority tying the game at 98-98 with 37 seconds left. Denver fans’ joy turned to anguish 18 seconds later when Posey sank the dagger into their hearts with a 25 foot trey putting the Hornets ahead to stay at 101-98.
CP3recorded yet another double-double, a team high 22 points, dished off 10 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 steals. Rasual Butler playing for the injured Mo Peterson, had 19 points, 3 steals, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, Peja Stojakovic scored 17 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal. David West put in 15 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 assists, James Posey added 10 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal.
J.R. Smith was amazing as he came off the bench and dropped a game high 32 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals. Carmelo Anthony scored 24 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, Chauncey Billups had 12 points, 5 assists, 1 steal. New Orleans improves their record to 9-5, Denver is now 10-6.
