The Charlotte Bobcats, in their game against the Indiana Pacers on Friday night, proved for at least one night that they have some moxie in them; come tothink of it, they even had some offensive spark.  Most nights, one would think that either Gerald Wallace or Jason Richardson – who started tonight – would provide that offensive spark.  If you thought that folks, then you’d have thought wrong.  Raymond Felton, believe it or not, led the Bobcats as they fended off a Pacers rally in overtime, escaping from Conseco Fieldhouse with a 115-108 win.

Charlotte took their largest lead of the game, 37-23, capped by a layup by Nazr Mohammed with 8:42 remaining in the first half; Indiana would answer back with a 17-6 run, punctuated by a layup by Marquis Daniels to make it 43-40.  The Bobcats would go to their locker room with a narrow 53-48 lead.  The Pacers would tie the game three times in the third period before taking a 71-70 lead on a 3-pointer by Brandon Rush with 3 minutes left in the quarter; a layup by Troy Murphy gave Indiana an 81-75 cushion later in the frame.

Indiana would take a 97-95 lead on a trey by Murphy with 39 ticks left in regulation; Charlotte would tie it up at 97 on Emeka Okafor’s layup.  The Pacers had one last shot to win the game, but Danny Granger’s shot was short.  The Bobcats scored the first seven points in the overtime period, including back-to-back three-pointers by Felton and D.J. Augustin; however, the Pacers cut their deficit to 108-105 on two free throws by T.J. Ford with 47 seconds left, but Charlotte would push their lead back to 5 on a Felton jumper, icing the game for the Bobcats.

Charlotte’s high scorer was the aforementioned Felton as he tied a career-high with 31 points (including three 3-pointers), 3 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals while Richardson added 21 with 2 rebounds, 2 assists and a blocked shot; Augustin pitched in, scoring 17 (including 3 treys) with 6 rebounds and 4 assists while Wallace added 16 with 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals.  Okafor had a solid game as well, scoring 14 with 20 (count’em…20!!) rebounds, an assist and 2 blocked shots.

Indiana was led by Granger with a game-high 35 points (including 6 three-pointers), 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks while Daniels and Ford added 20 each – with Daniels grabbing 8 rebounds and 2 assists while Ford grabbed 8 rebounds himself, along with 6 assists and a steal.  Charlotte (5-10) returns home to host the Boston Celtics on Saturday while Indiana (6-9) jets to Florida to take on the Orlando Magic – also on Saturday.
