Rondo Gets First Career Triple-Double Celtics Pummel Pacers 114-96

The Boston Celtics shot 50% (40-80) from the floor for the game, got a game high 31points from Ray Allen, a double-double from both Kevin Garnett and Kendrick Perkins, and a triple-double from Rajon Rondo as they defeated the Indiana Pacers Wednesday night 114-96. It was the first career triple-double for Rondo, and it keyed the attack for the Celtics on the hardwood of the “New Garden.”
Indiana held the lead through most of the first but the Celtics scored 7 unanswered points at the end of the quarter, giving them a razor thin 28-27 lead. The Pacers in the second again led for more than half the period, but Ray Allen hit a 23 foot trey putting Boston up 42-40 with 5:13 left to play. The “Green Team” held onto the advantage and at the half they were ahead 57-51. Boston ran away with the game in the third, leading by as much as 21 points, before Indiana knocked the lead down to 78-66 at the end of the quarter. The Pacers never got closer to Boston then 8 points down during the final period.
Ray Allen scored 31 points, 4 assists, 1 steal, in the Boston victory. Kevin Garnett had 26 points, 14 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 assists, 1 steal. Rajon Rondo continues to prove that last season was not an aberration, recorded a triple-double, 16 points, dished off 17 assists, grabbed 13 boards, 3 steals. Kendrick Perkins 16 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, Paul Pierce added 16 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block.
Danny Granger continues to impress as he led Indiana with 20 points, 5 assists, 1 block, 1 rebound, 1 steal. T.J. Ford got over shadowed by Boston’s Rondo but still had a good night, as he scored 15 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds, Marquis Daniels had 14 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal. Troy Murphy recorded a double-double, 10 boards, 10 points, 2 assists. Boston after the win has an 18-2 record, Indiana falls to 7-11.
