And The Beating Goes On Cavaliers Rip Raptors 114-94
Posted by Matt Loede under NBA Game Recap

Nine wins in a row – nine routs in a row. Could life get any easier for these record setting Cleveland Cavaliers? On a night when two players set franchise records, the game Toronto Raptors made it interesting for about a half, then the Cavs did what they have been doing a lot this year, they went on a run to dispatch yet another opponent, winning 114-94.
The records were impressive, as LeBron James was the first to set a mark, as he set the record for steals by a Cavalier with 735. Then later on the teams grizzled vet, Zydrunas Ilgauskas set the franchise record for rebounds, pulling down his fifth to give him 5,228.
As for the game, the Cavs started the night with two highlight dunks by James, got into some issues with the officials in the second quarter with three technical fouls, then went on an electric 23-2 run to start the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
They turned a 59-51 lead at the half that ended with a James three at the buzzer into a 82-55 advantage by the time it was all said and done. From there the team put it in cruise control in improving to 18-3. The Raptors, still reeling from a recent firing of former head coach Sam Mitchell, are now 8-12.
James led the way for the Cavs with 31, and Wally Szczerbiak had 16 off the bench. Mo Williams and Ilgauskas each had 13. The Cavaliers, who are now 17-1 since the 3rd of November, are the first team in league history to win nine consecutive games in a single season so easily. Cleveland came in tied with Portland (1990-91), Chicago (1996-97), Detroit (2003-04) and Houston (2007-08).
Maybe the most impressive thing is even after blowout after blowout, the team still feels that they have things to improve on, and still think that they have not played their best basketball. If that is true, it will be amazing to see what happens when and if that best basketball is played.
The team will be right back at it on Wednesday night, as they travel to the city of Brotherly Love to battle the 76′ers.
