Kapono, Bosh Combine For 46; Raptors Squash Pacers 101-88
Posted by Stephen Rhodes under NBA Game Recap
Wednesday night’s game between the Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors pitted former teammates – former Pacer Jermaine O’Neal and former Raptors T.J. Ford and Rasho Nesterovic. That aside, neither of the three did anything particularly meaningful on the hardwood; however, Jason Kapono and Chris Bosh combined for 46 points, leading Toronto to the easy 101-88 win over Indiana at Air Canada Centre.
Neither team did much in the first quarter as Toronto held a tenuous 20-18 lead; both teams were tied at 36 with 6:17 left in the second quarter. But Kapono would score 5 of his 9 second quarter points as the Raptors went on an 11-0 run; Bosh would add a jumper which gave Toronto a 51-45 lead going into halftime. At the 9:33 mark of the final period, O’Neal’s hook shot started a Raptors 9-0 burst, giving them an 88-70 edge, effectively putting the game out of reach.
Toronto’s high scorer was Kapono with 25 points (including 3 treys), 8 rebounds, 2 assists and a blocked shot while Bosh added 21 with 10 rebounds and 2 assists; Jamario Moon pitched in, scoring 17 with 8 rebounds, an assist, 2 steals and 3 blocked shots. Indiana was led by Danny Granger with 22 points (including three 3-pointers), 6 rebounds and 2 blocked shots while Marquis Daniels added 21 with 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; Troy Murphy chipped in by scoring 20 (including 4 three-pointers) with 20 rebounds, 6 assists and a steal. Toronto (9-12) plays again on Friday when they travel to New Jersey to take on the Nets while Indiana (7-14) makes the short trip to Detroit to face the Pistons – also on Friday night.
