The “Associated Press” reported Wednesday that the Phoenix Suns received Charlotte Bobcats guard Jason Richardson, forward Jared Dudley, and a 2010 second round NBA Draft pick in exchange for guard Raja Bell and power forward Boris Diaw.

The trade should be beneficial for both teams, as Phoenix will receive the Bobcats leading scorer in Richardson while Diaw will give Charlotte needed size. Bell and Richardson will basically switch roles as each will assume the other’s position in their new teams starting lineups. Richardson who came to Charlotte last season as he was traded from the Golden State Warriors on the night of the 2007 NBA Draft, has averaged 18.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game this season.

Bell’s strong suit is defense, he was named to NBA All Defensive Team First Team in 2007, and made Second Team last season. Diaw, who had seen his minutes shrink with the Suns since they acquired center Shaquile O’Neal last season, will definitely see his role increase with the Bobcats.
