The Charlotte Bobcats took the court Wednesday night at New Orleans Arena a team in transition, they had gone out with the old but still did not have the new to bring in. Charlotte traded Jason Richardson and Jared Dudley to the Phoenix Suns for Raja Bell and Boris Diaw earlier in the day. The two newest Bobcats did not play, and small forward Gerald Wallace was not on the floor for personal reasons. If the New Orleans Hornets felt even the slightest empathy for their opponents, they did not show it on the court as they beat up the Bobcats 105-89. New Orleans had five players in double figures, two with double-doubles.

The game was not as close as the final score indicates, as the Bobcats scored a major portion of their points in garbage time during the fourth quarter. The Hornets had a healthy 29-21 lead at the end of the first quarter. By the time the two teams had reached the half game was on the precipice of blow out standards as New Orleans walked into the locker room on top 59-40. The Bobcats were barely showing a pulse at the end of the third quarter as the Hornets led 88-57 virtually ending any semblance of a contest.

David West had 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 block, while Peja Stojakovic added 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist. Mo Peterson came off the bench and put in 16 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal, Chris Paul recorded yet another double-double, 15 points, 15 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Tyson Chandler was also credited with a double-double, 13 points, 11 boards, 3 blocks, 2 assists, 1 steal.

Rookie D.J. Augustin led all players as he scored 28 points, 7 assists, 4 steals, and 2 rebounds. Fellow rookie Alexis Ajinca came off the pine and had 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist, while Matt Carroll chipped in with 10 points, 1 assist, 1 rebound, 1 steal. New Orleans now has a record of 12-6, while Charlotte is 7-15.
