Most of the games that the Warriors play as of late, it is usually the starters who provide the bulk of the team’s offensive firepower; in Wednesday’s game against the visiting Milwaukee Bucks, the bench provided a much-needed lift as they scored 41 points; they helped in a big way as Golden State demolished Milwaukee 119-96 at Oracle Arena – the Warriors second consecutive victory.
Both teams shot reasonably well as the Warriors outscored the Bucks 30-22 in the opening quarter and Milwaukee outscoring Golden State 28-25 – this gave the Warriors a 5-point lead at halftime. The Bucks managed to eliminate a 14-point deficit in a 6 1/2 minute stretch of the third quarter, tying the contest on a dunk by Michael Redd with 2:12 remaining in the period. But Golden State would take over for the remainder of the game on strong play by reserve Marco Bellini and Andris Biedrins; Milwaukee would never recover.
Golden State had 7 (yes 7!!) players in double-digits, led by Stephen Jackson with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals while C.J. Watson added 19 with 7 rebounds and 4 assists; Biedrins had a double-double as he scored 18 with 14 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and 4 blocked shots while Anthony Morrow chipped in, scoring 16 with 2 rebounds and an assist. Bellini had his best game of the season, scoring 15 with 3 rebounds and 2 assusts in only 14 minutes of playing time.
Milwaukee was led by Redd with 27 points, 4 rebounds and an assist while Richard Jefferson added 17 (including 3 three-pointers) with 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Golden State (7-15) plays again on Friday when they host the Houston Rockets while Milwaukee (9-15) returns home to host the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night.
