Knicks Hot Early, Harrington Scores 33 As Kings Collapse 114-90

Despite all the infighting the New York Knicks have going on, the Mike D’Antoni style of offense seems to agree with them; during their game against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night, they got hot early, scoring 43 points in the opening quarter and never looked back as New York made short work of Sacramento 114-90 at Arco Arena.

As previously mentioned, the Knicks scored 43 points in the first quarter to the Kings’ 21; they shot 75% in the period.  They kept the tempo up during the second quarter as Al Harrington scored 17 first-half points while David Lee added 16 first-half points, allowing New York to go to their locker room at halftime with a sizable 69-45 cushion.  After the Kings reduced the Knicks’ lead to 12 in the third quarter with a 16-3 run, Harrington took over as he made a trio of 3-pointers and had eleven straight points for New York, who took a 83-71 lead going into the fourth quarter; they would go into cruise-control for the remainder of the game.

New York’s leading scorer was Harrington with 33 points (including 5 three-pointers), 6 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and a blocked shot while Nate Robinson added 19 with 2 rebounds and 3 assists; Lee chipped in, scoring 17 with 19 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.  Sacramento was led by John Salmons with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal while Beno Udrih added 13 with 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and a blocked shot.  New York (11-12) plays again on Monday when they visit Phoenix to take on the Suns while Sacramento (6-18) remain at home to host the Minnesota Timberwolves – also on Monday.
