Cavaliers Tame T-Wolves 93-70
Posted by Matt Loede under NBA Game Recap

There was no question that the Cavaliers were going to have a much easier time with the very bad Minnesota Timberwolves than they did the with Saturday’s opponent – the Atlanta Hawks. So it should come as no shock that the wine and gold got back on track in a big way Wednesday night at the Target Center with a solid 23-point victory, topping the Wolves 93-70.
Minnesota provided some entertainment for the Cavaliers for about three quarters, trailing just 63-55 entering the fourth. But it was the fourth quarter where the Cavs took it to the struggling Wolves, outscoring them 30-14 to breeze to the big win and their 21st win of the season against just four losses.
The Wolves are now just 4-21, and they have lost 11 straight, and still have not won a game for recently promoted coach Kevin McHale, who took the coaching job from Randy Wittman. LeBron James led the way for the Cavs, putting in 32 points in 39 minutes, hitting 14-of-20 from the field. Delonte West had 21 in a supporting role.
Former Celtics first-round pick Al Jefferson led the way for the T-Wolves with 20 points. Mike Miller had 14 for Minnesota. The Cavs, even without usual starting center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who is still nursing a sprained ankle, beat the Wolves on the boards to the tune of 44 to 36. Andy Varejao, playing in the starting spot for “Z” had a team high 11 rebounds.
With the Wolves hanging around for three quarters, the Cavs turned to their MVP in the fourth to put the game away, as James had 14 points in the quarter to lead the charge to the 23-point win. Then he left the game to a cheer from the Minnesota fan base, and he even waved to the few thousand fans that remained once he reached his seat on the bench.
The Cavs are now six full games up on the Pistons in the Central Division. They are also impressive on the road, going 8-4. Their Midwest road trip will continue on Friday night as they take on Carmelo Anthony and the 17-8 Northwest leading Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center.
