Kings Drop 4th Straight, Spurs Romp 101-85

The San Antonio Spurs, in their game against the Sacramento Kings on Monday night, had some good and bad news.  The bad news was guard Tony Parker turned the ball over 5 times in 10 minutes; the good news was that despite the case of the fumbles, Parker led a balanced scoring attack in leading San Antonio to the easy 101-85 win over Sacramento at AT&T Center.

Sacramento led the first 5 1/2 minutes of the game although San Antonio made 8-of-9 shots from the floor – including 3-of-3 from beyond the 3-point arc; but with reserve George Hill running the point the last two minutes of the first quarter, the Spurs scored the final 8 points of the period and would go into the second quarter with a 33-22 lead.

The Kings would reduce their deficit to 6 when bobby Brown drained a 3-pointer as San Antonio would call a timeout with 9:04 left in the half; San Antonio would outscore Sacramento 20-9 during the next 6 minutes to go up by 17.  The Spurs would go into their locker room at halftime up 62-45.  From the beginning of the third quarter until the final horn, the Spurs would hold off the Kings.

San Antonio was led by Parker with 18 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists and a steal but committing 6 turnovers while Roger Mason added 11 with a steal.  Sacramento was led by John Salmons with 22 points, a rebound, 3 assists and a steal while Beno Udrih from off the bench added 13 with 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals.  San Antonio (17-10) plays again on Tuesday when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves while Sacramento (7-22) does not play again until Friday when they return home to host the Toronto Raptors.
