Fresh from winning his first ever NBA Player of the Week award, Orlando Magic guard Jameer Nelson obviously wanted to continue where he left off.  In the Magic’s game on Monday night against the Golden State Warriors, it can be safely assumed that he continued his hot offensive work as he scored 22 points, leading Orlando to the easy 113-81 victory over Golden State.

The Magic got off to a hot start early on; Nelson’s layup with 3:11 left in the first quarter gave Orlando a 25-10 lead, but the Warriors scored the last 9 points of the period to cut their deficit to nine.  The Magic would build their lead up to 17 when Rashard Lewis drained a 3-pointer which gave them a 48-31 lead with 3:38 remaining in the half but Golden State would respond with a 14-5 run, capped by a 3-pointer by Jamal Crawford; the Warriors would go into halftime down by only eight points at 53-45.

Orlando’s advantage would shrink to just 58-54 when Crawford hit another trey with 9:49 left in the third quarter; the Magic’s lead would only be seven when Lewis hit another 3-pointer with 6:13 remaining in the period which started a 22-9 run which closed out the frame.  Orlando’s lead would grow to as many as 35 points before the bench saw the bulk of playing time in the final period.

Orlando’s high scorer was Nelson with 22 points (including 4 treys), 5 rebounds, 7 assists and a steal while Lewis added 21 (including 4 three-pointers) with 5 rebounds, an assist and 2 steals; Dwight Howard was rather quiet in recording a double-double, scoring 11 with 11 rebounds.  Golden State was led by Crawford with 18 points (including 3 treys), 3 rebounds, an assist and 2 steals while Anthony Morrow added 13 with 4 rebounds and 2 assists.  Orlando (22-6) plays again on Thursday when they host the New Orleans Hornets while Golden State (8-21) travels south to Miami to take on the Heat on Tuesday night.
