Captain Jack Leads Warriors To Fourth Quarter Come Back Beat Celtics 99-89
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Game Recap

The Boston Celtics left the hardwood of Oracle Arena in Oakland Friday night with twice as many losses as they woke up with on Christmas morning as the Golden State Warriors mounted a furious fourth quarter come back and beat Boston 99-89. Warriors team captain and small forward Stephen Jackson led the attack, with 8 of his game high 28 points coming in the fourth. Boston lost back to back games for the first time this season, after losing on Christmas to the Los Angeles Lakers 92-83.
Boston came out strong in the first quarter, and it appeared the Warriors left their offense in the locker room, resulting in the “Green Team” enjoying a 29-19 advantage after the first 12 minutes of play. The Celtics would walk into the locker room at the half with a healthy 51-39 lead. The Warriors would cut into the Boston lead in the third, but the Celtics still seemed pretty secure as they ended the quarter on top 72-64. Golden State quickly took the smiles off the faces of the defending NBA Champs, as they opened the fourth on an 23-6 run, and would take an 87-78 lead when Jackson hit 3 straight at the line with 4:22 to play. Boston would get back within 4 points, but could get no closer as they lost their second straight road game.
“Captain Jack“ was the game’s leading scorer as he had 28 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block, in the Golden State victory. Mario Belinelli scored 22 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 rebound, Ronny Turiaf came off the bench with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal. Kelena Azubuike added 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal.
Paul Pierce was Boston’s leading scorer with 21 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block, while Kevin Garnett added 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Leon Powe started in place of Kendrick Perkins who injured his left shoulder against the Lakers. Powe put up 12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 steal. Rajon Rondo recorded a double-double, 11 points, 10 boards, 9 assists, and 3 steals, while Eddie House came off the bench and had 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal.
