Bynum Comes Up Big Time As Lakers Slip Past Miami 108-105

Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum scored a season high 24 points, one of six Lakers players to score in double figures as the reigning Western Conference Champs defeated the Miami Heat in well fought contest Sunday 108-105. Dwyane Wade scored 27 points for Miami and rookie Michael Beasley added 23 more as the game was not decided until the closing seconds. Los Angeles now has the top record in the Association as they are now 30-6. The defending NBA Champions the Boston Celtics also have 30 victories but have 9 losses so far in the campaign.
The Lakers took the advantage at the end of the first quarter leading 26-21. Miami however responded in the second, and would reach the half holding a razor thin 51-50 advantage. Los Angeles appeared to be on the verge of blowing the game open when Derek Fisher connected on a 28 foot trey with 3:01 left in the third putting his club on top 73-60. Miami would shut down the Lakers while they went on a scoring jag to end the quarter, and the L.A. lead was just 77-73 as the two teams got ready for the final period.
Once again the Lakers pulled ahead with 9:33 to play in the fourth as Bynum hit a shot 5 feet from the hoop, was fouled on the play, and made the shot at the line giving his team an 85-77 lead. The Heat would not go away, with 7:52 remaining D-Wade hit a long range jumper making it an 85-82 contest. Rookie Michael Beasley had one of his biggest moments of his brief career in the Association as he drained a bucket with 5:32 left in the quarter giving Miami a 90-89 lead. Los Angeles again grabbed the momentum with 2:55 in the period as Pau Gasol put the ball in the basket from 7 feet away and putting his team on top 100-93. Miami kept rallying, with 38 seconds left Udonis Haslem drove the lane putting the ball up and in and knotting up the game at 102-102. Bynum would put the Lakers ahead to stay when he laid the ball up and into the cylinder with 18 seconds to play and giving his team a 104-102 lead. The Heat never recovered.
Andrew Bynum scored 24 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block, Kobe Bryant added 19 points, 7 assists, and 2 rebounds. Vladimir Radmanovic had 18 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block, and 1 assist, while Pau Gasol recorded a double-double, 14 points, 18 boards, and 3 assists. Derek Fisher was also credited with a double-double, 13 points, 11 assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals, while Sasha Vujacic had 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.
Dwyane Wade dropped a game high 27 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals, Beasley added 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Daequan Cook had a good game coming off the pine with 17 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Shawn Marion had 12 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 assist, while Chris Quinn also put in 12 points, 7 assists, and 3 rebounds. The Lakers with the win have a 30-6 record, Miami is now 19-17.
