Knicks Make It Look Easy Down In New Orleans Beat Hornets 101-95
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Game Recap

The New York Knickerbockers Monday night played unselfish team basketball, and converted into a road win against the New Orleans Hornets 101-95. New York center David Lee lead the team in scoring with 24 points, but the thing that won the contest for the Knickerbockers was the ball movement instigated by the team’s back court. New York had 30 assists for the night, while the Hornets settled for just 18; the more touches on a play, the greater the percentage that your team will score on that possession.
The two teams went toe to toe in the first and would end the quarter in a tie at 23-23. The Hornets would go stone cold offensively in the second, and New York walked into the locker room leading 47-40. David Lee hit a mid-range jumper with 5:41 remaining in the third to give the Knickerbockers a 59-47 lead.
New Orleans battled back, Rasual Butler hit a jump shot with 21 seconds left in the quarter, and the New York lead would be cut in half as the two teams faced the final period with the score 69-63. Butler would drain a 23 point trey with 45 seconds left in regulation to bring the Hornets within 3 points at 96-93. However Al Harrington responded with a three point basket from 25 feet away with 26 seconds to play, and New York was on top 99-93. New Orleans never got over the hump, and the Knickerbockers held on for the victory.
David Lee had 24 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block, while Al Harrington came off the bench, with a double-double, 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 assist. Wilson Chandler scored 19 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block, and Chris Duhon added 10 points, and 9 rebounds.
David West recorded a double-double, a game high 25 points, 14 boards, 4 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal, while Chris Paul added 23 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Rasual Butler scored 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 block, while Tyson Chandler also was credited with a double-double, 10 points, and 12 rebounds. New York now has a record of 14-22, New Orleans is now 22-12
