I think it is safe to say that after a few games with his new team, Golden State Warriors guard Jamal Crawford is getting his shooting groove back; this just happened to be one of those times when he got some offensive assistance in the form of Stephen Jackson in their game Monday against the Washington Wizards. Crawford and Jackson combined for 54 points, allowing Golden State to make short work of Washington 119-98 at Oracle Arena.
The Warriors jumped out to a 15-point lead in the third quarter with 8 points from Kelenna Azubuike; Caron Butler’ 9 points in the period helped keep the Wizards close going into the fourth quarter, but Golden State poured it on as they outscored Washington 33-19 to settle the issue early in the final period. Golden State’s high scorer was Crawford with 28 points (including 4 three-pointers), 3 rebounds, 8 assists and a blocked shot while Jackson added 26 (including 3 treys) with 6 rebounds and 5 assists but committing 5 turnovers; Azubuike pitched in, scoring 17 (including 3 three-pointers) with 3 rebounds, an assist and 2 blocked shots while Corey Maggette poured in 16 with 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
Butler, Andray Blatche and Antawn Jamison shared scoring honors for Washington, scoring 22 points apiece; Butler also grabbed 3 rebounds, dished out an assist along with a steal while Blatche grabbed 9 boards, dished out 2 assists along with 2 steals and a blocked shot. Jamison grabbed 5 rebounds and had a steal. Golden State (13-29) plays again on Wednesday when they travel to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder while Washington (8-32) take the bus east on I-80 to Sacramento to take on the Kings – also on Wednesday.
