On any given night, a team worth its salt – after a 34-point loss to the Milwaukee Bucks – would want to take out its frustrations on their next opponent.  That was exactly the case with the Dallas Mavericks, who got blasted by the Milwaukee Bucks by 34 on Wednesday night; they exacted some retribution as they had one of their better shooting nights of the season, shooting 54.9% from the floor as they visited The Palace of Auburn Hills and embarrassed the Detroit Pistons 112-91 on Friday night.

The Mavericks took it to the Pistons early on as they shot 66% in the first half, taking a 63-51 lead into their locker room at halftime; it wouldn’t get any better for Detroit as Dallas continued their hot shooting led by 18 after 3 quarters and by as many as 25 in the final period.  To go one step further, the Mavericks outscored the Pistons in each quarter – total domination, if you will.

Dallas’ leading scorer was Dirk Nowitzki with 26 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal while Josh Howard added 22 with 5 rebounds, an assist, 2 steals and a blocked shot; Brandon Bass chipped in 18 with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and a blocked shot while Jason Kidd hit a double-double as he scored 11 with 10 assists.

Detroit was led by Richard Hamilton from off the bench with 17 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists while Tayshaun Prince added 12 with a rebound and a blocked shot.  Dallas (25-18) plays again on Sunday when they fly to Boston to take on the Celtics while Detroit (24-18) hosts the Houston Rockets – also on Sunday.
