Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Game Recap

The Charlotte Bobcats won for only their sixth time on the road Tuesday night as they shocked the Los Angeles Lakers defeating them in double-overtime by the score of 117-110. Bobcats forward Boris Diaw just missed a triple-double to lead the charge for Charlotte. L.A. guard Kobe Bryant fouled out of the contest with 39 seconds remaining in the first over time period. The loss for the Lakers stopped a four game winning streak, and knocked them off of the top of the NBA totem pole record wise. Los Angeles now trails the Cleveland Cavaliers who have the best record in the Association, and the Boston Celtics with second best mark. The Lakers lost at the Staples Center for only the fourth time this season.
Charlotte has shown marked improvement since the December deal that got them Diaw and guard Raja Bell in exchange for guard Jason Richardson. They are 12-10, since completing the trade and are 13-13 at home for the season. However the road has not been kind to the Bobcats until Tuesday that is.
The Lakers struggled in the first quarter, and the Bobcats were all too happy to take advantage of that grabbing a 23-16 lead at the end of the period. Raymond Felton hit a shot at the buzzer, that would give Charlotte a razor thin lead at the half as the score was 49-48. Adam Morrison drained a 25 foot trey with 1 second left in the third, and the Bobcats were in the drivers seat heading into the final quarter of regulation leading 76-70.
However the Lakers rallied in the fourth and tied the game at 93-93 when veteran guard Derek Fisher sank a 24 foot shot from outside the arc and sending the contest into over time. Los Angeles took the early lead in the extra period, as Kobe Bryant hit a mid-range shot with 2:58 to play. Los Angeles looked like they were going to escape with the win leading 103-100, when with 39 seconds to go, Bryant fouled Shannon Brown, fouling out of the game. Boris Diaw tied the game at 103-103 with 32 seconds to go, and the two opponents went to a second overtime. However this time the Bobcats took control early and held on for the rare road win.
