The Orlando Magic, in their game against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night, proved why they could possibly be the team to beat in the East as they had seven players in double-figures – with three of them scoring at least 22 points each – while shooting 54.9% from the floor, with the end result being Orlando pasting Indiana 135-111 at Amway Arena.
The Magic benefited in this game from the return of Mickael Pietrus, who has been out 12 games with a broken wrist; his return allowed the Magic to utilize the inside-outside game to perfection with Dwight Howard making the Pacers’ frontcourt’s lives miserable while draining 15 three-pointers. But to put the nail in the coffin, the Magic never trailed in this contest.
Orlando, as previously noted, had 7 players in double-figures, led by Pietrus with 27 points (including 3 three-pointers), 10 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and a blocked shot while Rashard Lewis added 24 (including 4 treys) with 4 rebounds, 4 assists and a blocked shot; Howard chipped in 22 with 10 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocked shots but committed 6 turnovers.
Indiana was led by T.J. Ford with 23 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists while Marquis Daniels added 16. Orlando (34-10) plays again on Thursday when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers while Indiana (17-28) returns home to host the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.
