Minnesota Timberwolves guard Randy Foye

It isn’t every day that the Minnesota Timberwolves have seven – yes, 7 – players score in double-digits, but that’s what they did while shooting almost 49% in their game against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night.  Randy Foye led the T-Wolves with 19 points as Minnesota got the hard-earned 116-111 win over Indiana at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Both teams shot well in the first half as the Pacers outscored the Timberwolves 32-27 while Minnesota outscored Indiana 29-27, which allowed  the Pacers to take a 59-56 lead into halftime.  Indiana led 72-71 in the third quarter when they went on an 8-0 run which included a 3-pointer by Jarrett Jack and a 3-point play by Danny Granger to make it 80-71 with just over 3 minutes remaining in the period.  However, Minnesota would reduce their deficit to 82-78 entering the fourth quarter.

The T-Wolves led 110-106 with about a minute to go which gave Indiana a chance to get closer; the Pacers’ Marquis Daniels missed two shots then T.J. Ford missed a 3-pointer before the Timberwolves rebounded.  Mike Miller would make a pair of free throws with 31 ticks left on the clock to make it 112-106, icing the game for Minnesota.

Minnesota’s high scorer was Foye with 19 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and a blocked shot but committed 9 – yes, 9!! – turnovers while Sebastian Telfair and Ryan Gomes added 16 each – with Telfair grabbing 2 rebounds, dishing out 4 assists along with 2 steals and a blocked shot while Gomes grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out an assist along with 2 steals.  Kevin Love chipped in 15 with 11 rebounds and 2 assists.

Indiana was led by Granger with 28 points (including 4 three-pointers), 5 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and 2 blocked shots while Mike Dunleavy added 20 (including 3 treys) with 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocked shots; Troy Murphy poured in 17 (including 3 three-pointers) with 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and a blocked shot.  Minnesota (17-30) plays again on Wednesday when they return home to host the Atlanta Hawks while Indiana (19-30) flies to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers on Thursday night.
