LBJ Sets Yet Another Record As Cavaliers Rout Raptors 101-83

LeBron James 2.3a

As usual, LeBron James was performing his offensive magic on the court Tuesday night at Quicken Loans Arena, putting forth another All-Star effort as the Cavs pounded the Raptors 101-83. James scored 33 points, eclipsing 12,000 for his career, and made an amazing block of Raptors star Chris Bosh in the fourth quarter that highlighted the Cavs 23rd home win of the season.

James’ big night makes him the fastest player in NBA history to reach the 12,000-point plateau. At 24 years, 35 days, he did it quicker than Los Angeles superstar Kobe Bryant, who was 25 years, 220 days. His big block of Bosh came at a crucial point of the fourth quarter as the Raptors were trying to make one last run to try and make it a game.

The Cavs started fast, as they built a 23-point lead in the first quarter, and never trailed all night. Toronto did make it somewhat of a game in the second half, but were never able to get close enough to make the Cavs sweat, or get the lead for that matter. Bosh scored 29 and Jermaine O’Neal 20 to lead Toronto.

Daniel Gibson came off the bench to score 18 for the Cavs, and Mo Williams put in 16. The win sets a record as the Cavaliers break the club record for consecutive home wins set during the 1988-89 season. With James’ fast start, hitting 6-for-6 from the field in the first quarter, the Cavs went up 37-15 after 12 minutes. James had 16 in the quarter, more than the whole Raptors team.

The Cavs move to 38-9 after the win, and now have won three in a row. They will travel to one of James’ favorite arenas on Wednesday as the take on the Knicks in New York in Madison Square Garden. The Raptors season of frustration continues as they fall to 19-31.
