The “Associated Press” reported Saturday that the Charlotte Bobcats have made their third trade this season, as they traded former college star  forward Adam Morrison and third year reserve guard Shannon Brown to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for forward Vladimir Radmanovic. The trade marks the end of a disappointing  relationship between the Bobcats and the former first round pick from Gonzaga in the 2006 NBA Draft.

Morrison along with former Duke star J.J. Redick took the NCAA by storm in the 2005-2006 campaign. Both players however have had trouble finding success in the Association. Morrison was taken with the third pick overall in the draft, and has fallen far short so far of the expectations that the organization had for him. Morrison tore his ACL in his left knee in a preseason game, in 2007 and would miss the entire campaign. In 2-plus seasons in the NBA he has averaged 9.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.6 assists, rather anemic stats for a player that was selected as high as he was.

Brown is in his third season in the Association, and is going to his fourth franchise. Originally selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers he was traded to the Chicago Bulls in the three team trade that got the Cavaliers Delonte West and Ben Wallace.

Radmanovic had been a starter for Los Angeles until center Andrew Bynum was injured. The Lakers have gone with a front line of Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, and Luke Walton since the injury. Now in his eighth season in the Association, he is certainly not a player with a lot of upside, averaging 9.2 points, and 4.5 rebounds  in his career.

This move more than anything else was to change the culture of the Bobcats, Morrison was not a Larry Brown type of player. Morrison does have the potential to become a breakout player, much like former teammate Jason Richardson, who was traded to the Phoenix Suns earlier this season. Brown will sacrifice talent, if the personality of the player does not mesh with his concept. Speculation from this corner is that Morrison did not mesh which led to his relocation.
