The Milwaukee Bucks are an interesting team in that despite injuries to Michael Redd, Andrew Bogut and Luke Ridenour, they have managed to remain resilient and very much in the Eastern Conference playoff hunt. Their opponent, the Indiana Pacers, are just trying to remain above water as they are currently not in playoff contention. Both teams hooked up at Bradley Center on Friday in an important matchup for both teams; Richard Jefferson and Ramon Sessions came up large for the bucks as Jefferson scored 32 points and Sessions recorded a double-double, leading Milwaukee to the easy 122-110 win over Indiana.
The Bucks shot 53% from the floor, yet the Pacers shot well in the first half, taking a slim 59-57 lead into the third quarter; fast-forwarding to the fourth quarter and trailing 101-94, Jarrett Jack scored a pair of layups – with the second resulting in a 3-point play to cut their deficit to two with 5:!5 remaining in the game.
But Milwaukee went on an 8-0 run capped by a 3-point play by Charlie Villanueva to give the Bucks their largest lead thus far at 109-99; Indiana would not get any closer than 5 for the rest of the contest. Milwaukee’s high scorer was Jefferson with 32 points (including 4 treys) with 7 rebounds and 4 assists while Charlie Bell, from off the bench, added 20 with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a blocked shot; Villanueva pitched in 17 with 2 rebounds, 3 assists and a blocked shot while Sessions poured in 15 with 7 rebounds, 17 assists and 2 steals.
Indiana was led by Danny Granger with 26 points (including 3 three-pointers), 5 rebounds, an assist, a steal and 2 blocked shots while Troy Murphy added 23 (including 5 treys) with 10 rebounds and 3 assists; Jack pitched in 21 with a rebound, 6 assists and 2 steals. Both Milwaukee (26-29) and Indiana (21-33) now go into the All-Star break; the Bucks do not play again until Tuesday, February 17, when they make the short trip to Detroit to take on the Bucks while the Pacers return home to host the Philadelphia 76ers – also on Tuesday, February 17.
