Heat Get Jermaine And Jamario And Send Marion And Banks To Toronto
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA News, NBA Trades

The “Miami Herald” reported Friday that a deal that would send the Toronto Raptor’s Jermaine O’Neal and Jamario Moon to the Miami Heat in exchange for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks just needs the approval of the Association to be finalized. The deal would be a blockbuster, and would radically change the makeup of each squad.
The deal at first blush appears to give the short tern advantage to Miami. The Heat have been looking for a legitimate force in the middle all season they will gain that with the acquisition of O’Neal. Jamario Moon also gives them veteran presence at the power forward position, and a very good tutor for rookie Michael Beasley.
For Toronto this was to gain salary cap relief at the end of the season, and probably buys General Manager Bryan Colangelo another season to try to turn the Raptors around. Marion becomes a free agent at the end of this campaign, and almost assuredly will not be retained by Toronto. This gives them a cap slot to try to bring another player to compliment Chris Bosh and Andrea Bargnani.
