Cassell: From Penthouse To Outhouse

Probably the unlikeliest of trade partners apparently got some business done on Monday night as according to Chad Ford of ESPN.com, Boston Celtics point guard Sam Cassell and cash will be sent to the Sacramento Kings for a future second-round pick; assuming any major changes do not happen, the transaction should be finalized some time on Tuesday with the league office.

The Celtics got some luxury tax relief with this deal while the Kings gave up almost nothing for Cassell as the second-round pick was protected.  But Boston, by trading Cassell, also freed up a roster spot and may add a body to the vacant roster spot just before the playoffs arrive.  The $64,000 question is what Sacramento will do with Cassell.  My best guess is that they will release him soon after the trade transpires.
