A few items of interest involving the New Jersey Nets, courtesy of the New York Daily News:
Poor Sean Williams. He wants to be considered misunderstood, yet he cannot seem to stay out of trouble. Williams was arrested on Sunday at Boston College for a charge of violating a restraining order against him; he was taken into custody as he was arrested for trespassing and an arraignment is scheduled for later this month. As expected, coach Lawrence Frank said “No comment”, as did general manager Kiki Vandeweghe. This isn’t the first time Williams has had issues as he was thrown off the Boston College basketball squad for smoking marijuana. In 19 games this season, Williams has averaged an underwhelming 1.9 PPG, 2.4 RPG and less than 1 BPG in 10.5 minutes per game. The Nets, understandably, are trying to trade Williams with no takers thus far. Wow, didn’t see that coming!!
In more Nets news:
Vince Carter’s ego actually did not take a hit as he allegedly was the subject of trade rumors involving the San Antonio Spurs; both Vandeweghe and team president Rod Thorn deny those allegations and Carter, to his credit, said, “I didn’t really hear anything, just through hearsay through other people. … If it happens it happens. To me it’s one of those things you can’t control.” Finally, Yi Jianlian’s pinkie finger appears to be better as he says he’s ready to go for Tuesday’s game, yet Frank hasn’t made a determination as to whether Jianlian will actually suit up or not.
