Certainly Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger is glad that his team is able and willing to take a load off his scoring duties; in Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Granger was able to get some assistance from his teammates as six Pacers scored in double-digits. The end result was Indiana defeating Philadelphia 100-91 at Conseco Fieldhouse.
The Sixers fell behind early 17-4 and would trail 28-18 going into the second quarter; Indiana shot 57% in the period to Philadelphia’s 35%. After trailing by 11 at halftime, the Sixers rallied and closed the gap to 66-60 on Thaddeus Young’s layup halfway through the third quarter; the Pacers would fight back as they outscored the 76ers 14-3 the rest of the period, taking a 80-63 into the final quarter.
While Indiana held a 17-point lead in the fourth period, Philadelphia got to within 89-83 on Andre Iguodala’s 3-point play with 4 minutes left to go in the game; a pair of baskets by Troy Murphy and Granger helped Indiana get a 10-point lead. Young would convert a 3-point play on the Sixers’ next possession, but T.J. Ford made a layup and Murphy drained a 3-pointer, icing the game for the Pacers.
Six Pacers scored in double-digits, led by Granger with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocked shots while Murphy added 17 with 7 rebounds; Ford and Roy Hibbert chipped in 14 each – with Ford grabbing 4 rebounds, dishing out 7 assists along with a steal while Hibbert grabbed 5 boards.
Philadelphia was led by Iguodala with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 steals while Louis Williams added 17 with 3 rebounds, an assist and a steal; Young chipped in, scoring 16 with 9 rebounds and 3 steals while Willie Green poured in 15 with 2 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Indiana (22-33) plays again on Wednesday when they travel to Charlotte to take on the Bobcats while Philadelphia (27-25) returns home to host the Denver Nuggets – also on Wednesday night.
