Chandler A Hornet Again, Fails Thunder Physical

Tyson Chandler

I am guessing that the New Orleans Hornets breathed a collective sigh of relief as center Tyson Chandler failed his physical performed by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday; this effectively cancels the deal that had originated when New Orleans sent Chandler to the Thunder for Chris Wilcox, Joe Smith and DeVon Hardin.

No specific reason was given as to why Chandler failed his Thunder physical, but he did miss the Hornets last 12 games due to a sprained left ankle.  According to Thunder general manager Sam Presti, “We were pleased to add Tyson to the Thunder roster. During the course of the physical examination and outside consultations some questions arose that gave us cause for concern. We felt that this course of action was the best for our organization.”

I would venture to say that the rescinding of the trade may have been the best thing to happen to the Hornets; although Chandler’s stats weren’t all that great, he did indeed fill a spot in the middle that they otherwise wouldn’t have had if Chandler was a member of the Thunder.
