CP-3 Takes Away Orlando’s Magic Hornets Win Big 117-85
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Game Recap

It has been an interesting couple of days for the New Orleans Hornets; first there was the “You Say Good-Bye, And I’ll Say Hello” trade/non-trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The deal that would have sent Hornets center Tyson Chandler to OKC in return for forwards Chris Wilcox and Joe Smith, was rejected Wednesday by the Thunder after Chandler failed a physical. No specific reason was given by Oklahoma City officials but Chandler had missed 12 straight games with a bum left ankle. Wednesday night New Orleans hosted the Southeast Division leading Orlando Magic, and proceeded to commit an old fashioned butt kicking on them as they won in a rout 117-85.
The Hornets started out the game on fire, and except for a brief let down in the second they dominated the entire night. New Orleans pulled out to a 35-20 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Orlando was able to chop a little off the lead in the second, but they still trailed 56-43 as the contest reached the half. The game officially hit blow-out status at the end of three quarters as the Hornets were on top 86-62. The fourth quarter was just extended garbage time.
Chris Paul recorded yet another double-double, 36 points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 block, while Rasual Butler added 15 points, 8 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal. David West scored 14 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block , Melvin Ely came off the bench with 11 points, 8 rebounds. Devin Brown put in 11 points, 1 assist, 1 block, 1 rebound, and 1 steal. Peja Stojakovic chipped in 1o points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal.
Rashard Lewis led Orlando with 17 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal. J.J. Redick came off the bench and had 14 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, Dwight Howard added 12 points, 8 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal. New Orleans improves to 32-20, Orlando is 39-14.
