T-Wolves Send McCants And Booth To Kings For Williams And Brown
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Trades

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings are hoping that a change of scenery will help two players reach their potential. The Timberwolves announced on their team website Wednesday that they have traded guard Rashad McCants and center Calvin Booth to the Sacramento Kings for big man Shelden Williams and guard Bobby Brown. Williams was taken with the number five pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, but his performance so far in his career does not warrant the choice. Williams this campaign has played in 30 games averaging 3.7 points, 2.6 rebounds per game. Minnesota lost starting center for the season Al Jefferson for the season to injury earlier this month.
McCants although not taken with as high a pick as Williams (he was number 14 in the 2005 NBA Draft) was also loaded with expectations when he came into the Association. He also has not played up to the level the T-Wolves thought he would perform at. McCants has averaged 9.9 points, and 2.0 assists per game in his career. Minnesota General Manager Jim Stack believes the deal will have a strong impact on his club. Stack after the trade was completed said “Shelden Williams and Bobby Brown are both talented young players and we’re excited to get a better look at them. We’d like to thank Rashad and Calvin for their professionalism during their time with us and wish them all the best as they move forward with their careers.”
