Three Way Deal Sends Skip-To-My-Lu To Magic
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Trades

The “Associated Press” reported Thursday that the Orlando Magic, Memphis Grizzlies, and Houston Rockets consummated a trade that will give the Magic a legitimate presence at the point guard position for the rest of the campaign. Orlando acquired Houston Rockets point guard Rafer Alston in the deal, sending much traveled guard Mike Wilks, veteran center Adonal Foyle, and their first round pick in this year’s NBA Draft to the Grizzlies. The Rockets received Magic forward Brian Cook and Memphis guard Kyle Lowry.
The Magic took a huge hit earlier this month when they lost starting point guard Jameer Nelson to a right shoulder injury for the remainder of the season. Alston, who was a playground legend known as “Skip-To-My-Lu” has really picked up his play for the Rockets starting last season. He has become a reliable scorer, and a very good distributor of the rock. Alston has averaged 11,5 points, 5.4 assists, this season. Magic General Manger Otis Smith said “Rafer is a starting veteran point guard who shoots the ball well. He gives us added depth and athleticism in the back-court . We thank Brian, Adonal and Mike for all of their contributions and wish them all the best.”
