Dallas Mavericks forward Brandon Bass

Typically, the Dallas Mavericks’ bench is at best average offensively; you wouldn’t have known that in Saturday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings as they scored an impressive 54 points, led by Brandon Bass.  Long story short, Dallas scored 70 first-half points as they decimated Sacramento 116-95 at American Airlines Center.

The Mavericks were hot early on as they shot 71% in the second quarter and outscored the Kings as they took a sizable 20-point halftime lead; to illustrate how effective the Dallas bench was, they scored the first 14 points of the quarter.  The Mavericks would outscore the Kings in the third quarter to take a 98-71 lead and would cruise from there to the victory.

Josh Howard and Brandon Bass shared scoring honors for the Mavericks as each scored 20 points – with Howard grabbing 4 rebounds, dishing out 2 assists along with a steal while Bass grabbed 4 boards, dished out an assist and blocked a shot; James Singleton was impressive off the bench as he scored 19 with 12 rebounds, an assist, 2 steals and a blocked shot while Jason Kidd secured a double-double with 11 points and 11 assists.

Sacramento was led by Beno Udrih with 18 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists and a steal while Spencer Hawes and Francisco Garcia each added 17 – with Hawes grabbing 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals while Garcia grabbed 3 boards along with a steal and 2 blocked shots.  Dallas (33-22) plays again on Tuesday as they make the short trip to San Antonio to take on the Spurs while Sacramento (12-45) returns home to host the New Orleans Hornets on Monday.
