Golden State Warriors swingman Stephen Jackson

The Golden State Warriors love to run-and-gun; that’s pretty much old news for those who are fans of or follow the team.  Their opponent on Saturday night, the Oklahoma City Thunder, provided a test for the improving Warriors as the Thunder is a relatively young team.  But the game at times resembled a track meet, as seven Warriors scored in double-digits; the end result would be that Golden State out-ran the Thunder 133-120 at Oracle Arena.

The Warriors did their usual game plan – lots of offensive opportunities, lackadaisical defense while committing 17 turnovers; the game was played uptempo for the most part with neither team being able to really get a stranglehold on the lead.

But Golden State would score 21 points in the final 6 minutes of the game, including an 11-2 run – capped by Kelenna Azubuike’s 3-pointer with 3:18 left to go to put the Warriors up 125-114; the Thunder could not mount a challenge from that point on.

Golden State had seven – yes, seven!! – players in double-digits, led by Stephen Jackson with 26 points (including three 3-pointers), 4 rebounds, 9 assists and 3 steals but committing 7 turnovers while Corey Maggette added 25 with 8 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal; Jamal Crawford poured in 24 with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Oklahoma City was led by Kevin Durant with 32 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals but turned the ball over 5 times while Russell Westbrook added 31 with 5 rebounds, 11 assists and a steal; Jeff Green chipped in 27 with 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals while committing a whopping 7 turnovers.  Kyle Weaver poured in 19 with 5 rebounds, an assist and 2 steals.  Golden State (20-36) plays again on Monday when they travel to Los Angeles to face the Clippers while Oklahoma City (13-43) returns home to host the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.
